Legendary entertainer Josh Weathers will offer a rare solo performance at the second annual “Feast in the Fort” benefit for The Parenting Center Fort Worth on Nov. 10, emceed by Pam Minick with special guest Tuff Hedeman. General admission tickets start at $45 each.

Performances by Weathers have been limited since he and his wife, Kady, established “Love Like You Mean It.” The couple’s nonprofit is committed to helping Indian girls avoid a life of sexual slavery and suffering through building The Hope Home – a place where these young ladies can live free from fear while finding purpose and meaning in their lives, a press release stated.
Three-time PRCA World Champion bull rider Tuff Hedeman knows medals, but believes his greatest prize is being a three-time dad. Father to son Robert (25) and Trevor (21), Hedeman recently became a parent to a third son, Ryker (13 months), and has chosen to brush up on his parenting skills through resources available at The Parenting Center.
“For me, being a dad has always been one of the most important things in my life. As parents, we all make mistakes,” Hedeman stated. “Today my co-parenting focuses on being objective, being real, being fair and always making sure the actions and decisions we make as adults are what is best for our child. The best advice I can give to other parents is to acknowledge mistakes, learn from them, and repair as much as you can while moving forward.”
Child abuse and neglect continues to haunt Tarrant County, with an unfortunate increase of 116 cases and 5 more fatalities than reported the previous year. According to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services recently released Data Book for 2015:
- 6,213 confirmed child abuse/neglect victims in Tarrant County – 2nd highest in Texas.
- 16 child abuse/neglect related fatalities in Tarrant County – 3rd highest in Texas.
- 79% of confirmed perpetrators are parents.
- 42% of perpetrators are between the ages of 26 and 35.
- 22% of victims are between the ages of 1 and 3.
- 51% of perpetrators are female.
- 20% of sources that report for completed child abuse/neglect investigations was a child’s school - the leading source for 2015.
