Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. will host the third annual Rahr-B-Q Steak Cook-Off at 2-6 p.m. Sunday, May 7, to benefit Hope Center for Autism to raise funds for its mission to enable children on the autism spectrum and their families to live more fully functional lives.

Entry into the event will include a commemorative pint glass with four beer tastings, a steak dinner prepared by the steak cook-off contestants and live music. Fan favorites Josh Weathers, The Gibbonses, Brandon Steadman, Jared Thomas and Legacy 4 are scheduled to perform.

“Hope Center for Autism is thrilled to partner with Rahr & Sons again for this event,” stated Tiffany Dromgoole, event chair, in a press release. “It will not only help raise awareness about autism but will help the Center fulfill its mission and bring hope to children and their families. Hope is believing things can change.”

The fundraising goal is $75,000. All proceeds will support Hope Center for Autism, a nonprofit organization.

“What we do works. People with autism can and do get better, they learn – they just learn differently,” stated Susan Wood, executive director of the Hope Center for Autism. “With the support of our community partners, we can help people with autism reach their full potential in all areas of their development.”

People with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASDs) have serious impairments of social, emotional and communication skills. Autistic disorders cover a broad spectrum, ranging from verbal to non-verbal, from the affectionate to the emotionally distant, from the methodical to the disorganized, and from the gifted to the severely challenged. Hope Center for Autism’s mission is to enable children on the autism spectrum and their families to live more fully functional lives.

Pre-sale tickets are $45 or $50 at the door. The event is free for children ages 13 and under with a paid adult ticket. Children will receive hot dog meals. Tickets are on sale now at bit.ly/rahrbq3.

There is a $150 entry fee for cook-off competitors. To register, visit bit.ly/rahrbq3steak. The first place winner will receive a $1,000 prize and a spot to compete at the World Steak Championship at Billy Bob’s Texas in October.

Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. is at 701 Galveston Ave. in Fort Worth.
